I went to a Conference this week and one of the subjects that they spoke about was having a working home budget. Most people have an idea of how much their bills are but many do not have this information written down.
It is important to sit down and take the time to so that you know exactly where your money is going. It is not going to be a fun exercise for most. You should always ensure you have enough money to pay the bills and put some money into a saving account. Once this is done you will then know the amount of money you have for other expenditures.
The advice I was given during this presentation was to spend the time to write out to information for the first couple of months and then to enter the information into a program.
There are some websites that I have found (listed below) and there is plenty of software programs that you can buy for your computer that will allow you to store all of your information from month to month (budget and actual) and should also provide detailed reports.
Start 2011 with a working home budget!!
